We are a startup that develops autonomous driving solutions for geo-fenced areas. We already completed several projects at parking garages, factories and exhibitions and have a lot more projects in the pipeline. This is an example of our solution: Vehicles Could Soon Be Driving Themselves Off The Production Line at Ford’s Cologne EV Centre. Our Implementation Team is mainly based out of Berlin in a very nice and comfortable work mobility hub, but remote work is possible. We are looking for people that help us ensure the functional safety of our products and that are willing to bring their ideas to the table to achieve something the entire automotive industry is currently looking for – level 4 autonomous driving based on artificial intelligence (AI).
The Implementation Team at Kopernikus needs a talented person who would love to join us in a
Senior Developer Role: Motion Control - Rust (m/f/d)
(Leipzig / Berlin / partly remote possible)
The Implementation Team is mainly responsible for:

Writing code to communicate with the vehicle and factory/parking infrastructure

DevOps and developer tooling, including logging and visualization
-
Hacking cars, so we can control them remotely - like an RC car
-
Motion Control and Path Planning
-
State estimation of vehicles, pedestrians and other entities
-
Communication between internal components, using DDS
-
Company security (VPN access, SSH keys, secrets, etc) and defense against adversarial attacks
-
Hardware selection for new project sites, including servers and networking hardware
-
Site maintenance (usually remote)
As a Senior Developer focusing on Motion Control, your responsibilities will include:
-
Designing, developing, and maintaining software for motion control systems using Rust, C, and C++
-
Implementing and optimizing algorithms for motion planning and control
-
Ensuring the integration of motion control systems with other systems like perception and decision-making modules
-
Debugging and improving the performance of the existing motion control systems
-
Documenting the design and testing of the motion control software
Your profile:
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
-
Proven experience as a Senior Developer or similar role with a focus on Motion Control in Robotics or Automotive fields

Proficiency in Rust, C, and C++ programming languages

Familiarity with robotics software development environments such as ROS
-
Experience with real-time systems and multi-threading programming

Solid understanding of motion control systems and principles

Strong problem-solving skills and an excellent understanding of control theory and kinematics
To stand out of a crowd:

Understanding of safety-critical software development
-
Knowledge of modern automotive technologies, including ADAS and autonomous vehicles

Experience with sensor fusion for motion control
-
Experience in using simulation tools for motion control system design and testing

Experience with machine learning techniques related to motion control

Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments
